Dance is an extraordinary practice. It is immediate, authentic, undeniable. The dancer is present only in the now of this moment. And while dance-as-aesthetic may limit participation, dance-as-community is as old as culture itself. Everyone can dance, and at Rhythm and Motion, we do. I dance each week with people who build that community each time we dance.
This past week we celebrated Peter Rothblatt’s thirtieth year teaching Rhythm & Motion. There was a lot of love and community and all that good stuff in the room. Peter teaches dance, the body in space and with rhythm, contracting and extending, strength and weakness, joy and sadness, accomplishment and frustration. Dance exposes the whole human, body and spirit and heart, and at Rhythm and Motion (aka the Fountain of Youth) your heart is safe.

I’m blessed to be a dancer
